GROWTH PERFORMANCE OF GIANT AFRICAN LAND SNAIL (Archachatina marginata) FED VARYING DIETARY PROTEIN AND ENERGY LEVEL

A 10-weeks study was conducted to determine the effect of varying dietary protein and energy levels on performance of growing giant African land snail (GALS), Archachatina marginata. One hundred and forty-four snails with mean weight of 138.48g were used for this study.

EFFECT OF SITE OF COLLECTION AND LIVEWEIGHT ON HEMOLYMPH VOLUME AND SURVIVAL OF ARCHACHATINA MARGINATA

A study was conducted on the development of methodologies for lethal and non-lethal hemolymph collection in the giant African land snail (Archachatina marginata).

WOUND HEALING EFFECT OF SHELL POWDERS OF THE DIFFERENT DEVELOPMENTAL STAGES OF GIANT AFRICAN LAND SNAILS (ARCHACHATINA MARGINATA) ON ALBINO WISTER RATS

Wound healing is the process of repair that follows injury to the skin and other soft tissues. Giant African land snail parts are useful in the treatment of diseases like anemia, hypertension, labor pain, constipation, and wounds.

BIOCHEMICAL AND STRUCTURAL ANALYSES OF ALBUMEN GLAND OF THREE DEVELOPMENTAL STAGES OF GIANT AFRICAN LAND SNAIL, Archachatina marginata

The albumen gland of giant African land snails (GALS) is an elongated, tongue-like shaped organ that contains the fertilization chamber where the ova are fertilized and very rich in nutrients for embryo development.

EFFECTS OF STARVATION ON MINERAL CONTENT OF HAEMOLYMPH AND PROXIMATE AND LIPID PROFILE OF FOOT MUSCLE OF GIANT AFRICAN LAND SNAIL, ARCHACHATINA MARGINATA

Unfavourable environmental conditions such as extreme dryness expose snails to acute starvation. This study investigated the effects of starvation on the mineral profile of the haemolymph and lipid profile of foot muscle in the giant African land snail, Archachatina marginata.

GROWTH PERFORMANCE AND CARCASS YIELD OF GROWER SNAIL (Archachatina marginata) FED MAIZE CHAFF AND PAWPAW FRUIT

The effect of the nutrient composition of maize chaff and pawpaw fruit-based diets on growth performance and carcass yield of giant African land snail (GALS) was investigated. The feeding trial was for 56 days. A total of two hundred and forty (240) grower snails with an initial average weight of 64.06±0.19g were randomly selected into two groups with six replicates respectively (20snails/replicate) in a completely randomised design.

EFFECT OF NANOPARTICLES (MTX+) ON SELECTED MINERAL COMPOSITION OF GIANT AFRICAN LAND SNAIL (ARCHACHATINA MARGINATA) FED WITH AFLATOXIN CONTAMINATED DIET

The effect of nanoparticles (MTX+) on major mineral composition of Archachatina marginata fed aflatoxin-contaminated diet was evaluated in this study. Forty (40) snails weighing between 120-200 g were randomly divided into four (4) treatments with ten (10) replicates each.

CHEMICAL ANALYSES OF THE SHELLS OF BLACK-SKINNED AND ALBINO GIANT AFRICAN LAND SNAILS (ARCHACHATINA MARGINATA)

This study was conducted to compare biochemical analyses of the shells of black-skinned and albino giant African land snails. A total of forty snails (20 albino and 20 black-skinned snails) were used for this experiment.
